Off-duty Massachusetts State Trooper, bystanders, rescue elderly women from burning car
An off-duty State Trooper and bystanders combined to rescue two people from a fiery crash.
According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, on Saturday, while off duty, a Massachusetts State Trooper witnessed a crash that involved a tractor trailer and a small SUV on I-95 in Rhode Island.
After observing a fire emanating from the SUV, and no occupants exit the vehicle, the Trooper ran across I-95 to help the passengers inside the vehicle make it out safely.
As the flames grew larger, the Trooper repeatedly tried prying open one of the only accessible doors of the vehicle. The Trooper along with several good Samaritans, helped two elderly females from the vehicle prior to it becoming fully engulfed in fire.
The Trooper sustained lacerations to both hands that were treated on scene by EMS.
