Off-duty Boston MedFlight employee makes lifesaving rescue from burning vehicle
While a Massachusetts hero is choosing to stay quiet and keep attention away from himself, his employees wanted to make sure that he received deserved accolades.
According to Boston MedFlight, Rob Johnson, an off-duty Boston MedFlight staff member, performed heroic actions following a multi-car crash on New Year’s Day in southeastern Massachusetts.
Rob came upon the accident and immediately jumped into action, pulling at least one person from a burning motor vehicle, and beginning lifesaving care even before EMS or fire crews arrived on scene. He remained on scene to assist with the care and packaging of patients prior to their transport to a trauma center.
Local fire department officials reportedly called out Rob for his heroism despite being alone and unequipped, providing expert care under the dark of night and in the middle of a highway.
According to Paul Joyal, Director of Marketing & Communications for Boston MedFlight, they do not have any additional information regarding the accident and Johnson has declined opportunities to discuss it with media.
Thank you
