Off-duty Boston firefighter credited with helping rescue toddler from blaze

Boston – A Massachusetts firefighter is being credited with helping rescue a young child in a fire on Sunday.

According to Boston Sparks Association, at approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, the Boston Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a 2 1/2 story residential structure fire in Hyde Park.

Arriving companies encountered heavy fire showing from the rear of the building which resulted in a second alarm.

BSA stated that an off-duty Boston firefighter caught a toddler that was gently tossed from the building, as the parents tried to escape the flames.

Several people were displaced because of the blaze and two were transported to the hospital.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to the displaced.

Departments returned from the scene just after 11:00 a.m.
