North Dartmouth Christmas Tree Shop among 5 Massachusetts locations closing today
Going Out of Business sales began across all remaining Christmas Tree Shops store locations nationwide early this month, including those in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania. Today several local locations are closing for good.
Natick, North Dartmouth, Orleans, Pembroke and West Dennis locations will shutter their doors Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
CTS announced this month that they reached an agreement to liquidate all of their stores after failing to pay off bankruptcy loans.
The company handling the liquidation has stated that customers can take advantage of discounts up to 50 percent off the lowest ticketed prices throughout the store, with all Christmas and other holiday items being 50% off the lowest ticketed prices. Discounts are said to be even deeper for stores that are closing within days. We received some complaints however that some of the new prices were actually higher than the previous sticker price.
Select fixtures, furnishings and equipment will also be available for sale in closing locations. All sales are final during this store closing event.
It was announced previously that the store’s gift card program ended on July 21.
The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced in May an initial closure of 10 stores.
The company changed hands multiple times as of late. In 2003, Bed Bath & Beyond purchased the company for $200 million. Handhil Holdings LLC then purchased CTS in 2020 for an undisclosed amount of money.
CTS was founded in 1970 on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and has been known for selling toys, food, furnishings, and Christmas decorations at bargain prices.
