A new pub with multiple event rooms will soon be opening at a familiar location in Swansea.

The Rookery Pub will be operating at the former location of Tickle’s Gift Shop at 2219 G.A.R. Highway, next door to The Aviary Restaurant.

In late 2018, Lynn and Jack Tickle, who also own The Aviary, closed the well-known shopping spot to begin working on The Rookery.

The Tickles decided that they would turn the building into a pub that can be described as a reproduction.

The property will also contain two new event rooms, one of which is called The Meadowlark Room, which holds about 80 people, and the other, The Nightingale Room, which holds approximately 50 patrons. The event spaces can hold bridal showers, baby showers, small weddings and rehearsal dinners.

According to co-owner Lynn Tickle, the Rookery will serve up a casual, cozy, pub style atmosphere with a more affordable menu. Tickle states that you will see the type of food that you would come to expect at a pub, but with a little bit of a different take. Burgers, pizza, tacos, and appetizers such as nachos will be featured. Craft beer and cocktails will also be available to wet your palate.

The Rookery is holding a soft opening the middle of next week with a full opening to the public by next weekend.

The hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday 11:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. with the bar open until 10:30 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the kitchen will be open from 11:30 a.m. -10:00 p.m. with the bar closing at midnight.

I truly wish these people success. It seems as though they’ve tried everything. What we really miss is the tea room. I feel like they are just cycling through a bunch of trends at this point. Give it a rest!
