New Bedford man sentenced to prison in Fall River court on drug distribution, gun, and child endangerment charges
A New Bedford man was sentenced Monday in Fall River Superior Court.
In November of 2022, according to police, Dartmouth Police detectives, with the assistance of members of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit of Bristol County and the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant on Brock Avenue, New Bedford.
During a search of the residence, detectives seized methamphetamine, steroids, and mushrooms. In addition, an improperly stored firearm and approximately $1,800 were also located.
Because there were children present in the home, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families was notified, and responded to the residence.
As a result of the incident, 48-year-old Jose Manuel Santos Cordova of New Bedford, was arrested and charged with possess to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a Class C drug, possession of a Class E drug, improper storage of a firearm, and three counts of reckless endangerment to a child.
According to court records, the 2 drug possession charges were Nolle Prosequi, and the three remaining charges Cordova pled guilty.
Cordova was sentenced to serve 2 1/2 years with 2 years of probation.
