New Bedford man facing several charges after highspeed chase on I-195 leads to arrest by State Police

A police chase on an area highway led to the arrest of a local man by authorities.

According to Rhode Island State Police, on Friday, at 6:30 p.m., Troopers arrested 49-year-old Victor Ixcuna Vicente of New Bedford, Massachusetts, for Reckless Driving – Eluding Law Enforcement in High-Speed Pursuit – First Offense; Reckless Driving and Other Offenses Against Public Safety – First Offense; Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs BAC Unknown – First Offense; Obstructing an Officer in the Execution of Duty; and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test – First Offense.

This arrest was the result of an investigation into an erratic operator on Route 195 and a subsequent motor vehicle pursuit.

Vicente was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned and released pending a future date at the Sixth Division District Court.
