Nearly two dozen dogs up for adoption after animal control, police, rescue animals from unsanitary living conditions

Authorities have rescued nearly two dozen dogs from difficult conditions and are looking for the public’s help to find them a new home.

According to police, on New Year’s Day at approximately 8:30 a.m., Coventry Animal Control with Coventry Police responded to a residence on Plainfield Pike to conduct a well-being check on several dogs. Animal Control Officers made contact with the owner. Due to the unsanitary living conditions, the owner agreed to surrender twenty-two dogs to Coventry Animal Control. The case is currently under investigation.

Animal Control will be adopting out all of the dogs. The dogs range in age and are Chinese crested and Chihuahua mixes. All dogs have been examined by a veterinarian and appear to be in relatively good health. The cost of adoption will be their current medical expenses and a deposit to spay or neuter the dog.

Coventry Police are currently taking applications for adoption at 1666 Flat River Road in Coventry from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday this week.
