Name released, suspect arrested in fatal East Providence crash Monday
The East Providence Police Department is continuing its investigation into a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle crash from Monday.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 12:54 p.m. on Forbes Street in the city.
The victim, Valdano Almeida, 26, of 5 Hospital Road., East Providence, RI, died of his injuries at approximately 11:00 p.m. Monday at Rhode Island Hospital. His family has been notified.
The suspect in the crash, Arnold Butler, 35, of 112 Dorr Ave., East Providence, RI, was taken into custody at the scene of the accident.
Butler will be arraigned at 6th District Court Tuesday morning on the charge of DUI-Death Resulting, 31-27-2.2.
According to police, the investigation is still ongoing.
