Name released of 16-year-old killed in multi-vehicle crash on Route 24

The family of a teen killed in a crash on Route 24 has released his name.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, preliminary investigation indicates that at just before 11:45 p.m. on July 13th, a moped and 2012 Volkswagen Jetta made contact as the moped travelled from the right lane to the middle lane on Route 24 north in Brockton.

The male operator of the moped was ejected from the bike. The operator of the Volkswagen remained at the scene.

Immediately after the initial collision, three vehicles that had been traveling behind the Volkswagen and moped struck the moped as it lay on the roadway, after the operator had already been ejected from it.

The moped operator was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced deceased.

According to Randolph Public Schools, Kamari Perry, was a rising 11th grade student who was a charming, kind, funny, and intelligent young man. Perry attended Boston Prep. Charter School.

Perry’s mother, Kianna Battle, addressed her son’s death in a GoFundMe fundraiser to help pay for burial and funeral expenses.

“On Thursday 7/13/23 my baby became my angel. He was involved in a fatal car accident in Brockton. Losing my dear son Kamari has been the most challenging experience I have ever faced. He was an exceptional person, and his infectious joy touched so many lives during his 16 years on this Earth. Your prayers and support mean the world to me and my family as we navigate this heart-wrenching journey. Right now, I’m taking things one day at a time and allowing myself the necessary space to grieve.”

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and is being conducted by the State Police-Milton Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
