Multiple shots fired call leads to two arrests in Fall River

Fall River Police arrested two after an alleged city shooting.

According to FRPD, on Sunday June 24 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Fall River Police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 43 Tecumseh Street. Officer Paul McGuire, Paul Furtado and Jason Fournier responded to the scene to investigate. Officer Furtado spoke with a witness who provided information that approximately 6-7 gun shots were heard in the area. No shell casings were located at the scene or property damage.

Officers began canvassing the area looking for potential witnesses and evidence. Officer Paul McGuire while in the area of Rodman Street and Lowell Streets observed two males on bicycles. Officer McGuire drove past the males and recognized one of the males from prior investigations as Jameel Thigpen. Officer McGuire drove around the block and in that short time the males had disappeared.

Officer Mcguire believed that the males possibly entered the Rail Trail in an effort to flee from the area. He advised other units in the area of this and entered the trail from the Quequechan Street side with his cruiser’s flood lights activated. He saw the reflection from a bicycle’s safety reflectors in the distance.

Officer Furtado also was on the trail entering from Rodman Street and had activated his flood light and Officer McGuire observed that the two males now were in front of Officer Furtado’s cruiser. Jameel Thigpen and a 15 year old juvenile were detained. Officer McGuire noticed the males were sweating profusely and were extremely nervous. Officers began canvassing the nearby area on the trail and located a silver .38 caliber revolver in a grassy area nearby.

Thigpen and the juvenile male were arrested and charged with: Unlawful Carrying of a Non-Large Capacity Firearm, Discharging a firearm within 500 Feet of A Dwelling and Trespassing.
