Multiple agencies arrest two Fall River men, seize $70,000 worth of cocaine

Two Fall River men were arrested by multiple organizations this week in a drug bust.

According to Captain Barden Castro, on Tuesday, a multi-agency operation involving members of the Fall River Police Department Vice Unit, Massachusetts State Police, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Drug Enforcement Agency resulted in the seizure of approximately 2 kilos of suspected cocaine.

Law enforcement was able to learn that a shipment of illegal drugs was being made to a residence in the 500 block of Durfee Street in Fall River by the United States Postal Service.

Castro stated that Fall River Police, along with law enforcement partners, were in the area of the home and were able to witness the package being delivered. While monitoring the area, law enforcement were able to take two men in to custody based on the observations of the activities taking place with the two men concerning the package containing suspected drugs.

The two arrested parties were identified as 39-year-old Raul Miranda and 53-year-old Angel Casado.

Investigators were able to determine that the package contained approximately 2 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $70,000.00.

Seized from Raul Miranda was approximately $500.00.

Angel Casado was arrested and charged with trafficking in 200 grams or more of cocaine and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
