Motorcycle rider ejected in serious crash on Route 138

EASTON — Police Chief Gary Sullivan and Fire Chief Kevin Partridge report that the Easton Police and Fire Departments to a serious motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle this afternoon.

Rescuers responded to the intersection of Turnpike and Foundry streets (Rt. 138 and Rt. 106) at 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters and police officers observed that a motorcycle had crashed into a passenger car resulting in the rider being ejected from the motorcycle.

Easton Fire Department medical director Dr. Henry Crowley responded to the scene as well.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, had serious injuries that required emergency medical intervention by paramedics and Dr. Crowley at the scene. The rider was taken by Easton Fire ambulance to a landing zone at Raynham Park on Broadway in Raynham, where a medical helicopter was waiting to take him to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. The motorcyclist was reported to have life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was not injured.

Both roadways were shut down during the immediate response, and some lanes were closed during the initial investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Easton Police Department.
