Most of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut under Winter Storm Warning or Advisory as expected snow totals increase

Almost all of southern New England is facing either a Winter Storm Warning or Advisory.

According to the National Weather Service, portions of southeastern Massachusetts and northern and southern Rhode Island are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM Monday.

Snow is expected which may begin as a brief period of rain. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches.

Travel could be very difficult. 1″ per hour snowfall rates are possible between 6 pm and midnight. The snow will have come to an end in time for the early Monday morning commute, but untreated roads will remain snow covered and slippery with temperatures well below freezing.

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern, northeastern, and western Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island are under a Winter Storm Warning from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Monday.

Heavy snow is expected in these areas with total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches with localized 10 inch amounts possible.

1 to 2″ per hour snowfall rates are possible in these areas between 6 pm and midnight.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
