More Route 24 lane closures, Route 44 ramp closures/detours to begin next week
More lane closures, ramp closures and detours are coming to Route 24 and Route 44.
MassDOT’s contractor, SPS New England, will perform overnight lane striping and work zone set up on Route 24 North and South from Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 17, from 8:00 PM each night to 5:00 AM the following morning. The work will require single lane closures on Route 24 North and South in the vicinity of Route 44, and several overnight closures and detours of the Route 44 eastbound to Route 24 northbound on-ramp and the Route 44 westbound to Route 24 southbound on-ramp. The on-ramp closures are necessary to safely perform work on Route 24 near the ramp merges. When utilized during this period, the ramp closures and detours will be implemented from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
This work will allow the contractor to establish a work zone in the median of Route 24, which is necessary for reconstruction of the bridge pier. This work zone is anticipated to remain in place into the first half of 2020. View the detour routes below and use the links to view detour maps.
