Moped rider injured and cited, vehicle driver cited after Fall River collision

Two operators were cited after a Fall River crash between a moped and vehicle resulted in injuries.

According to Detective Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, units responded to the area of Jenks Street and Alden Street in response to a collision between a motor vehicle and a moped.

The operator of a Toyota sedan attempted to turn North onto Jenks Street from Alden Street when his vehicle collided with a moped which was traveling West on Alden Street.

The operator of the moped was ejected as a result of the collision. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with a laceration to leg. Witnesses on scene stated that he was 14-year-old.

The operator of the Toyota sedan was cited for failure to yield.

The operator of the moped was cited for unlicensed operation and failure to register the moped.

    So the owner of the Toyota gets cited for something that never should have happened. A unlicensed 14 year old who failed to register his moped never should have been on the road. These kids on these mopeds are all over the city driving erratically yet you get into an accident with them you may be cited. The city has done nothing to get these bikes off the street. Toyota driver should get legal advice just saying
