Migrant in Massachusetts indicted after being accused of raping 15-year-old

BROCKTON – A grand jury has indicted a man charged with child rape, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

Tuesday, a Plymouth County grand jury returned indictments charging 26-year-old Cory B. Alvarez with one count each of Aggravated Rape of a Child with 10 Year Age Difference and Rape of a Child by Force. In March, Alvarez was found dangerous, and he currently remains held without bail.

The indictments follow an investigation by Rockland Police. At just after 7:00 p.m. on March 13th, Rockland Police were dispatched to the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham Street for a report of a sexual assault. The Comfort Inn is currently part of a state/federal program to house migrant families. Alvarez resided at that address.

Upon arrival, Rockland Police encountered the 15 year-old female victim, who was then transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment. As a result of their investigation, Rockland Police developed probable cause to arrest Alvarez, and he was taken into custody.

Alvarez will be arraigned in superior court on the indictments at a later date. Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Rockland Police.
