Mayor Paul Coogan and Viva Fall River announce YOU(th) MATTER Art Contest, prizes to be awarded
Fall River students are being given the chance to show their artistic talent and win a prize in the process.
Mayor Paul Coogan, in partnership with Viva Fall River, has announced the You(th) Matter Art Contest. All students in grades K-12 who live or attend school in Fall River are eligible to enter a submission. The contest is inspired by work being done by the Fall River Public Schools, the Youth Violence Prevention Coalition and the Fall River Suicide Prevention Task Force to address mental health and values of self-esteem through the “You Matter Project” and the national “#WhyYouMatter” campaign.
Students must enter a piece of art that answers the question: “What matters to you?”. Any medium is accepted- drawings, paintings, photography, even poetry. Submissions will be judged based on creativity, clarity and content. Amazon gift cards will be given as prizes for the 1st ($100), 2nd ($75) and 3rd ($50) place winners of within three categories: elementary, middle school and high school.
Entries are due by Tuesday, November 9th and can be submitted by email to mayor@fallriverma.org or by using the drop box at Fall River City Hall. Submissions must include the student’s name, grade and school as well as a name, phone number and email address for a parent/guardian.
Submitted artwork will be placed in the “Atrium Art Gallery” at City Hall, previously used to display artwork from the MLK Art & Essay Contest in February and the We HeART Fall River Art contest in May. The gallery will be completed in time for the Thanksmas Market & Celebration on November 13th from 4-8pm, where winners will be announced.

Sleepy Paul Coogan … a useless Mayor this is the crap he’s focused on. Not the daytime shootings in FR.
Maybe coordinate with the just as useless police chief to develop a strategic police patrol plan to pre-empt the gun violence in the City.
