MassDOT temporarily closing Route 24 ramp this evening

FALL RIVER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that it will be temporarily closing the exit 4 ramp from Route 24 southbound to I-195 eastbound overnight tonight. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m., and will continue through to 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20.

The temporary ramp closure is necessary to perform deck repairs to the bridge carrying the ramp over I-195 westbound. The temporary ramp closure will be done using law enforcement details and a temporary traffic control detour plan.

A temporary detour will be in place as follows:

Route 24 Southbound Detour

Proceed south on Route 24
Take the exit onto I-195 W/MA-24 south toward Fall River
Take exit 8A for MA-24 south toward Tiverton R.I./Newport R.I.
Continue onto MA-24 south
Take exit 2 for Brayton Ave. toward Eastern Ave.
Turn right onto Brayton Ave.
Turn right to merge onto MA-24 north toward Boston/Providence
Continue onto MA-24 north
Take exit 3 to I-195 east/MA-24 north (New Bedford/Boston)
Merge onto I-195 east /MA-24 north
Continue on I-195 east past exit 8B to MA-24 north

Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution. Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
