A Massachusetts woman who lost her leg and suffered other serious injuries in an accident while on a cross-country trip is back in the Bay State.

According to her mother Margo, 26-year-old Tatyana Tudor of Holbrook was accompanying her best friend London on a trip from Boston to California to help him move. A week ago Sunday, their road trip became a nightmare. While driving on Route 80 in Nebraska, Margo says that a vehicle was swerving uncontrollably and ran into the car her daughter was traveling in and then fled.

“This accident almost took her life. The car they were traveling in was hit on the front passenger side, which caused their vehicle to be airborne and flipped over 15 times. Tatyana was ejected from the vehicle and run over by a semi-tractor trailer on her lower extremities.”

Tatyana has sustained life-threatening injuries including a skull fracture, a broken pelvis, and multiple bone fractures. They had to amputate the right leg and are trying to do everything to save the left leg.

A GoFundMe fundraiser created by the family to bring Tatyana back to Massachusetts for treatment has raised over $70,000.

Margo flew to Nebraska this past Sunday to make the 2-hour helicopter flight with Tatyana to a hospital in Boston on Monday.

On Tuesday, Margo issued a statement through the fundraiser.

“My baby is going into 1 surgery of many to come please please pray for her. All these donations have helped transport her to Boston and all other funds will go towards her future medical care. This will be a long journey and we will need all the help we can get for her future.”
