Massachusetts woman is in the giving spirit after hitting $1 million lottery prize
A Massachusetts woman is cementing the adage it is better to give than to receive.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Ida Reis of Fall River is the winner of a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts for the multi-state game’s Wednesday, July 10 drawing that featured a $39.9 million jackpot.
Reis won the prize after the first five numbers on her Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing. She claimed her $1 million prize (before taxes) Friday, July 12 at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters. She said she plans to help her family with some of the winnings.
Reis had no idea her Powerball ticket was a $1 million winner until she scanned it at the store. She laughed out loud once realizing what she had won.
Her winning ticket was purchased at Amaral’s Central Market, 872 Globe St. in Fall River. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

I would do the same thing. Give to animal shelters and needy people.
