Massachusetts woman held without bail after allegedly fatally shooting both parents

BEDFORD – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Bedford Chief of Police John Fisher have confirmed that Jessica Cavallaro, 24, of Bedford has been charged with murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and illegal possession of a firearm in the alleged shooting of her parents this morning on Washington Street in Bedford.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., Bedford Police received a call from a Washington Street resident who reported that Cavallaro had allegedly told them that she had shot her parents in a car outside. Upon arrival, police located Cavallaro’s mother, 56-year-old Thelma Tatten, dead inside a car on the lawn of an adjacent Washinton Street home. Cavallaro’s father, 56-year-old Mark Cavallaro, was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The firearm was also recovered.

Jessica Cavallaro was arrested on scene without incident.

According to WHDH, at her arraignment, prosecutors stated that her parents came to pick her up for breakfast. Cavallaro then got in the car, shot and killed them.

Cavallaro was ordered held without bail, her next court date is August 20, 2024.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Bedford Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The assigned Assistant District Attorneys are Suzanne Kontz and Mary O’Neill. The Victim Witness Advocate is Cassandra Aviles.
