Massachusetts woman arrested after vehicle driven through commercial building in hit-and-run
Police arrested and charged a Massachusetts woman who allegedly drove her vehicle into a building and then fled the scene on Sunday afternoon.
According to Chief James Sartell, on Sunday just after 3:15 p.m., Townsend Police received a report that a vehicle struck a commercial building at 220 Main Street and that the vehicle involved fled the scene.
Following an on-scene investigation, Townsend Police were able to locate the vehicle involved in the incident at the residence of 61-year-old Deborah Gyles.
Following additional investigation at that location, Gyles was taken into custody.
was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
Gyles will be arraigned in Ayer District Court on Monday.
The damaged structure contains multiple stores, but damage to the building was sustained to a vacant portion of the building.
