Massachusetts virus statistics reverting to pre-holiday numbers
Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, active cases, and hospitalizations in Monday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 481 more positive cases announced today. The lowest since October and a decrease from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remained at 1.49% which was the lowest since October 20th.
Massachusetts had seen 786 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 648,249 with 18 more reported dead (18 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 17,639 (17,288 confirmed, 351 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 21,535,803 after 25,827 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths increased by 1.0 to 9.7. At the beginning of February, the average death rate was 70+.
Estimated active cases saw a decrease by 400+ to 23,676. In the last 13 days, active cases have decreased by almost 9,400.
Hospitalizations have increased in 90 of the last 175 days, but saw a decrease of 3 to lower the total to 522. Hospitalizations have decreased in 11 of the last 13 days after a period of mainly increases. There were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Today’s total of 522 active hospitalizations is the lowest since November 5th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the April 29th report, Fall River has a 25.8 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (32.4 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 35.0 (was 36.9). Westport saw a decrease to 22.6 (was 23.5), Swansea is at 26.4, a decrease, and was 34.0 last week. Somerset saw a decrease as they sit at 17.4 (was 25.8). Freetown stands at 19.7 a decrease from 22.1. Dartmouth is currently at 18.7, a decrease from last week’s 22.3. Acushnet increased to 30.1 (was 24.6). Berkley has the highest rate in Bristol County at 39.8 and was 48.2 last week.
26 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk) which is down from 48 last week. 59 were in the red the week before. Acushnet, Berkley, Brockton, Chicopee, Dracut, Edgartown, Fall River, Hampden, Haverhill, Lawrence, Littleton, Lowell, Lynn, Methuen, Nantucket, New Bedford, Palmer, Revere, Southbridge, Southwick, Springfield, Taunton, Tisbury, Wareham, Winchendon and Yarmouth.
Massachusetts Officials have issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on April 29th.
