Massachusetts teacher accused of sexual assault in school classroom
A Massachusetts educator has been arrested on some disturbing charges.
According to Brookline Police, on March 10th they received a report from a Brookline resident containing allegations of sexual assaults that were committed against the same victim for a period of approximately two years, starting in 2016 and continuing through half of 2018. Based on that report, a Sexual Assault Intervention Network interview was conducted yesterday, with the victim and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim was twelve years old when the first incident occurred, and the majority of crimes are alleged to have happened in a classroom at the Heath School in Brookline.
Based on the information disclosed during the SAIN interview, a warrant was requested for the crimes of Aggravated Statutory Rape, Rape of a Child under 16, Indecent A & B on a person under 14.
The suspect, 36-year-old Larry Chen of Newton, was arrested last night on that warrant and is scheduled to be arraigned later this afternoon on 18 counts of each offense.
According to police, Chen’s dates of employment were September of 2013 through his resignation in 2018.
Brookline Superintendent of Schools Linus Guillory stated that Chen also worked as a seasonal employee with the town’s Recreation Department last summer.
