Massachusetts State Rep Fiola nominates Fall River’s Collins as 6th Bristol District Commonwealth Heroine of 2024
A Fall River woman was honored as a member of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women’s 2024 class of Commonwealth Heroines at the State House on Friday.
State Representative Carole Fiola nominated Rebecca Collins due to her continuous dedication to the Greater Fall River community.
“There are numerous women whose work make our community better,” stated Representative Fiola. “This year I wanted to honor Becca because she has worked tirelessly to advocate for the children and families in our community and working to make our community a better place to live”.
Rebecca Collins is President of Collins Construction Co., a 90-year-old Fall River based family-owned business. Collins has over 26 years of experience in commercial construction management for her family business. In addition to her role at Collins Construction, Rebecca, a mom of 4 children, serves as Secretary on the Board Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Fall River, Board Chair of United Way of Greater Fall River, serves on the Board for Roger Williams University, Bristol County Economic Development Consultants and the Durfee High Athletic Foundation.
“It’s an honor to be chosen by State Rep. Fiola, but I’m just simply doing what most Fall River residents do. I wouldn’t be where I am today if people had not cared enough to give back to our community, so it’s only right to make sure I pay those acts of volunteerism forward and do the same,” stated Rebecca Collins.
Collins represents thousands of women in every community of the state that perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and towns better places to live.
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women is an independent state agency that was legislatively created in 1998 to advance women of the Commonwealth to full equality in all areas of life and to promote their rights and opportunities.

I would have nominated Carole and Ken Fiola for their tireless efforts to better our community. We are lucky to have them!
