Massachusetts State Police responded to 3 serious crashes and a tractor-trailer fire this morning that resulted in serious injuries and heavy traffic, according to Dave Procopio of MSP.

Just after 5:30 a.m., Troopers, Fire, and EMS responded to a crash involving a truck and a car on Rt 1 NB in Saugus in the area of the Continental restaurant. Diesel fuel (approx 70 gallons) was spilled across all lanes of the roadway. The DEP and Mass DOT were notified of the spill. Operators declined medical transport. At 7:34 AM the right lane was re-opened. The middle and left lanes will remain closed for an estimated 2+ hours. Extremely heavy congestion due to this event.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Troopers responded to a crash between a car and tractor-trailer on Route 90 west at the Framingham Plaza. The operator of the car suffered serious injuries and was transported via medical helicopter. The highway was completely shut down in both directions temporarily to accommodate the helicopter.

Just before 6:00 a.m., Troopers and Fire responded to the ramp from Route 495 north to Route 93 south in Andover for a truck fire. The tractor-trailer was hauling small bottles of fuel for lawn equipment. The fire was extinguished and the scene cleared at about 6:30 PM.

Just after 3:30 a.m. Troopers, Fire and EMS responded to the ramp from Route 195 east to Route 25 east in Wareham for a crash involving a vehicle that went over the guardrail. The operator sustained injuries and was transported. The ramp was reopened at 4:20 AM.
