Massachusetts State Police: Motorcycle rider killed in afternoon highway crash
A motorcycle rider has died after a serious crash on Tuesday.
According to Massachusetts State Police, this afternoon at about 12:30 p.m., troopers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 90 in Boston that resulted in the death of the operator.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 21-year-old man from Medford was driving a 2002 Kawasaki EX500 motorcycle Route 90 Eastbound in Boston. The Kawasaki went from the right travel lane to the left travel lane and struck the wall on the left side. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor. No other vehicle was involved.
The operator was transported by Boston EMS to Tufts Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The left travel lane of Route 90 east was closed for approximately 1 3/4 hours.
The crash remains under investigation with assistance from State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, H Troop Detectives, and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit.
Boston Fire and EMS, and MassDOT were assisted with the crash scene.
