Massachusetts State Police: Man reportedly shot while driving on highway
Local police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the apparent shooting of a man while he was driving.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, the victim pulled into the XtraMart on Gorham Street and reported that he had been struck by gunfire while driving inbound in the area of the Lowell Connector. The man had suffered a possible gunshot wound and was transported first to Lowell General Hospital and then to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Troopers from the State Police-Andover Barracks and State Police-Concord Barracks shut down the Lowell Connector while Lowell Police Officers and State Police K9 Unit teams conducted a search for evidence. The victim’s vehicle was also examined for potential evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
Lowell Police are leading the investigation and MSP is supporting in an assisting role, according to Procopio.
