Massachusetts State Police issue update on Swansea crash on Route 195 that ejected one, injured 11-year-old
One man has been seriously injured after a Saturday afternoon crash.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, shortly before 2:30 p.m. yesterday Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a rollover crash on Route 195 east in Swansea that resulted in life-threatening injuries to the driver.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS was eastbound approaching mile marker 7.4 when, for reasons still under investigation, the sport utility vehicle exited the right edge of road, went down an embankment and rolled over.
The driver, a 33-year-old Malden man, was ejected and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported first to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River and then subsequently to Rhode Island Hospital, where at last update he was in critical condition.
The passenger, the driver’s 11-year-old son, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for potential minor injuries.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.
