1 is dead and another is seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at just before 4:45 a.m., Massachusetts State Police Troopers responded to a crash involving two pickup trucks on Route 95 south near Exit 33 in Needham. The crash resulted in fatal injuries to one operator and serious injuries to the other.

Preliminary investigation by the State Police-Framingham Barracks, with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, suggests that one of the pickup trucks went out of control and was perpendicular to oncoming traffic and was then broadsided by the second truck. The operator of the truck that was broadsided was determined by EMTs to be deceased on scene. The operator of the second truck was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Procopio stated that the weather at the time of the crash was rainy, and the road surface was wet.

Three of the four southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours to accommodate the rescue response and investigation.

The deceased victim’s information has not yet been released as next of kin has not yet been notified.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
