Massachusetts State Police investigating after driver dies in fiery crash
A driver was killed this morning in a serious accident.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at 7:20 a.m. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Norwell responded to a single-car crash on Route 3 southbound in Hingham, prior to Exit 35, that resulted in a fatality. The operator, who was removed from the vehicle prior to the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames, was transported to South Shore Hospital. The operator was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Firefighters from Hingham and Rockland assisted at the scene and extinguished the fire. The scene was cleared at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Further details about the victim and the vehicle are not being released at this time pending proper next-of-kin notification.
