Massachusetts State Police deal with Fall River flooding on Rt 24
“Route 24 in Fall River was closed both ways earlier this morning from Airport Road to Innovation Road, the area of the Route 24-Route 79 split, due to flooding caused by last night’s storm.
Lane closures were put in place starting around 4:30 a.m. and shortly after 6 a.m. both sides of the highway were closed at Airport Road. As you can imagine (or as you experienced), the closure caused significant morning commute backups. Troopers and MassDOT personnel worked to clear the flooding, and the roadway was gradually reopened, with the northbound side fully open first and southbound fully reopened a short time ago.
As seen in these photos, Troopers assigned to MSP Troop D and DOT employees helped locate and clear storm drains to reduce flooding on the highway.”-Massachusetts State Police.
