Massachusetts State Police capture suspect after Trooper dragged during traffic stop
A man wanted by Massachusetts State Police after a Trooper was dragged has been captured.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, Troopers located 31-year-old Derek Lobo at a residence on Union Street in Brockton and took him into custody.
He was wanted for assault and motor vehicle charges for dragging a Trooper with his motor vehicle when he fled a vehicle stop on Montpellier Street in Brockton last night.
Lobo was located after an intensive investigation by the State Police Troop D Community Action Team (CAT) and the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section. Multiple Troopers from both units took part in the arrest; the Trooper who actually placed him in custody was the Troop D CAT member who was dragged by the suspect in last night’s incident.
The Trooper suffered minor injuries.
Lobo has been booked at State Police-Middleboro on the following charges:
1. Assault and battery on a police officer;
2. Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon;
3. Trafficking in Fentanyl, more than 10 grams;
4. Negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
5. Failure to stop for police;
6. Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle;
7. Number plate violation;
8. No inspection sticker;
9. Speeding;
10. Window tint violation; and
11. Not in possession of license.
A bail commissioner set bail for Lobo at $5,000 plus the standard $40 bail fee. He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at Brockton District Court. Lobo was transported to the Bristol County House of Correction to be held pending arraignment or posting of bail.

What a good boy. He’s a great member of the community, a great father, and a role model…..said no one ever. Toss him in prison where he belongs where he can’t hurt officers, citizens, and deal poison to the addicted.
