Massachusetts State Police arrest female driver after reportedly driving the wrong way on Route 24

A driver has reportedly been arrested after driving the wrong way on a local highway.

According to Massachusetts State Police, a Trooper from the Middleborough Barracks was alerted by the desk officer to a report of a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of Route 24 in Freetown. The caller reported nearly being struck head-on while traveling in the left travel lane.

The Trooper responded immediately and located the vehicle stopped in the median, facing the wrong direction. The female operator exhibited numerous signs of impairment and performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).

She was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. The operator consented to a breath test, which indicated a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.22%, more than twice the legal limit.

The driver’s name was not released.
