Massachusetts State Auditor DiZoglio’s Bureau of Special Investigations identifies over $4 million in public benefit fraud in Q1 & Q2 of FY24, here is the breakdown
BOSTON – Today, State Auditor Diana DiZoglio released the Bureau of Special Investigations’ quarter one and quarter two reports. DiZoglio states that the reports summarize BSI’s work and initiatives to help make government work better by investigating, under the law, fraud, abuse, and illegal acts involving public assistance benefits throughout the Commonwealth.
For both quarters, BSI investigated 3,219 cases. Of these, 216 identified fraud totaling $4,405,856.22. Further details regarding these 216 cases may be found below.
[1] BSI is unable to report on monthly collections or circumstances that produce shortfalls in collections.
“When public benefits fraud occurs, it impacts the lives of everyday people across the Commonwealth who rely on these programs and services to purchase food or access care,” said Auditor DiZoglio. “That’s why the work of our BSI examiners is imperative to help ensure these programs and services are operating efficiently and reliably for everyone who needs them.”

The fraud is MUCH worse than this. I know someone who knows someone who was bragging about having TEN EBT cards with the pins taped to each card from the local junkies who sell them for 50 cents on the dollar so they can fund their drug habits. This state is ran by clowns who enable drug addicts with your tax dollars

I got you beat Fed up with the B/S ..i know someone personally who sells her EBT card for .50 on a $1 to fund her opioid/mani/pedicure/hairstyle addiction. Shoplifts with her mother and uses her young children as rubes , has 5 names on her mailbox (herself and each child’s name (diff fathers) to collect benefit monies as otherwise those children would be considered “cap” babies , receives 10K every tax season by having family members claim each child separately as the earned child income law allows . I ratted her out and …nothing came of it .as well she owes ME $18 a week for the past 16 years for raising her child whom she abandoned when born addicted .
