Massachusetts sees over 81,000 active COVID-19 cases

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations and active cases in Monday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 4,358 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw an increase to 8.50%. The rate was 3.3 on November 23rd and 6.68% just over a week ago.

Massachusetts had seen 3,110 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 375,455 with 60 more reported dead for a total of 12,670.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 11,146,494 after 15,196 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths is currently 50.

Estimated active cases increased to 81,449.

Hospitalizations have increased in 84 of the last 112 days and 59 of the last 71 and saw an increase by 48 to see the total raise to 2,339.

Nursing home cases, city and town metrics, and cluster information up to December 30th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the December 31st report, Fall River has a 102.4 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (103.6 last week) which is a decrease and the twelfth highest in the state, however, the positivity rate increased to 13.60%. New Bedford saw a decrease to 86.8 (was 100.9). Westport is also in the red at 68.6 (was 68.6), Swansea is at 64.9 and was 70.8 last week, and Somerset saw a decrease to 81.4 (was 86.0). Freetown saw their rate increase as it now sits at 90.0 from 83.7. Dartmouth is currently at 68.5 after seeing 62.9 last week.

• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 28,882

As of January 4th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 20,558,489 cases of COVID-19 with 350,664 reported deaths.
