Massachusetts sees over 800 COVID-19 cases as hospitalizations increase

Massachusetts saw an increase in cases and hospitalizations in Monday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 827 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.2%.

Massachusetts had seen 744 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 141,474 with 15 more reported dead for a total of 9,532.

17,654 tests were performed on new individuals, over 2,000 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,532,287. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,239,651.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths remains at 18.

Hospitalizations have increased in 22 of the last 35 days and increased by 17 today to see the total rise to 500.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 14th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 94,733
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 90,607
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 4,126

It was announced yesterday that Fall River is now in the red with an 8.5% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). Fairhaven sits at 9.8%. New Bedford continues to be in the red at 12.2%. Plymouth is in the red at 12.8%, Dartmouth is in at 9.7%. Berkley moves into the red at 9.5%. Acushnet remains in the red at 13.7%. Attleboro remains in the red at 12.7%.

According to the CDC, as of October 19th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 8,128,524 with 218,986 dead.
