Massachusetts sees over 4,000 reported COVID-19 cases in 4 days as United States breaks another daily case record

Massachusetts continues to see elevated daily case counts in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 1,097 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.5% after several recent increases.

Massachusetts had seen 1,128 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 147,120 with 24 more reported dead for a total of 9,640.

17,020 tests were performed on new individuals, over 2,100 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,632,162. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,668,015.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 17.

Hospitalizations have increased in 26 of the last 41 days, however, they decreased by 13 today to see the total lower to 538.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

Westport and Somerset joined much of the Southcoast in the red in the weekly report.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 21st
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 98,806
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 94,080
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 4,726

As of October 25th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 8,553,827 cases of COVID-19 with 224,221 reported deaths.

Today the country saw the most reported COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began for the second straight day.
