Massachusetts sees just 146 new positive cases after just 26,481 tests

Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, active cases, and average positive test rate in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 146 more positive cases announced today, a decrease from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased slightly from 0.69% to 0.66%. The state has seen the lowest percentage since the pandemic began for the third straight day.

Massachusetts had seen 203 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show an increase in total confirmed cases to 661,115 with 4 new deaths (4 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 17,872 (17,508 confirmed, 364 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 22,935,062 after 26,481 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths remained 5.4. At the beginning of February, the average death rate was 70+.

Estimated active cases saw a decrease by 100+ to 6,702. In the last 39 days, active cases have decreased by over 27,500.

Hospitalizations have increased in 94 of the last 203 days, but saw no change as the total remains 236. Hospitalizations have decreased in 33 of the last 40 days after a period of mainly increases. There were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Today’s total of 236 active hospitalizations was the lowest since September 27th before yesterday.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the May 27th report, Fall River has a 13.4 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (15.8 last week). New Bedford, who has the highest rate in Bristol County, saw a decrease to 15.9 (was 21.9). Westport saw a decrease to 3.4 (was 6.0), Swansea is at 8.1, a decrease, and was 14.3 last week. Somerset saw a decrease as they sit at 8.1 (was 12.7). Freetown stands at 6.3, a decrease from 7.9. Dartmouth is currently at 3.9, a decrease from last week’s 4.4. Acushnet decreased to 7.5 (was 19.1). Berkley is at 10.5 and was 9.4 last week.

1 Massachusetts community, the small town of Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard, is in the red (high risk) which is down from 2 last week. 6 were in the red the week before.

Massachusetts Officials have issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on May 27th.
