Massachusetts sees increase in COVID-19 reported cases, lower hospitalizations in Friday report

Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations for the second straight day in Friday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 438 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.0%.

Massachusetts had seen 365 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 117,888 with 16 more reported dead for a total of 8,791.

23,716 tests were performed, over 1,600 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the overall total to 2,290,752. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,673,552.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 83 of the last 109 days as hospitalizations decreased 21 today to see the total lower to 312.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 26th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 80,709
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 77,940
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,769

According to the CDC, as of August 26th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 5,845,876 with 180,165 dead.
