Massachusetts sees increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations and positive test rate

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations and positive test rate in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 632 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Monday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.2% from 1.1%. The second straight day of increases.

Massachusetts had seen 765 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 137,565 with 12 more reported dead for a total of 9,413.

13,744 tests were performed on new individuals, over 5,000 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,443,894. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,857,515.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths remains at 13.

Hospitalizations have increased in 19 of the last 29 days and increased by 13 today to see the total rise to 514.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 7th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 92,662
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 88,825
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 3,837

According to the CDC, as of October 13th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,787,548 with 214,446 dead.
