Massachusetts sees increase in COVID-19 cases, decrease in hospitalizations, 70 new confirmed/probable deaths
Massachusetts saw a decrease in active cases and hospitalizations in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 1,553 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Tuesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.82%. Sunday’s 1.73% was the lowest it had been since October 23rd.
Massachusetts had seen 980 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 553,220 with 70 more reported dead (66 confirmed, 4 probable) for a total of 16,252 (15,925 confirmed, 327 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,419,989 after 102,052 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 39.0.
Estimated active cases saw a decrease to 28,550.
Hospitalizations have increased in 93 of the last 164 days and 68 of the last 123, but saw a decrease of 25, to lower the total to 755. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 14th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the February 25th report, Fall River has a 27.0 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (44.8 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 31.6 (was 50.3). Westport also saw a decrease to 26.4 (was 42.2), Swansea is at 27.3 and was 39.9 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 22.8 (was 27.4). Freetown decreased to 35.5 from 45.0. Dartmouth is currently at 27.7 after seeing 42.4 last week. Acushnet has the highest rate in Bristol County at 41.7 (was 50.6).
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to February 25th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 255,800
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 245,783
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 10,117
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on February 25th.

As of March 3rd, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 28,514,774 cases of COVID-19 with 515,277 reported deaths.
