Massachusetts sees increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations Wednesday

Massachusetts saw another increase in hospitalizations and cases in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 1,623 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Tuesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.86%.

Massachusetts had seen 923 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 158,937 with 27 more reported dead for a total of 9,836.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 6,374,952 after 103,066 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths remains at 16.

Estimated active cases are currently 17,455.

Hospitalizations have increased in 34 of the last 51 days and increased by 17 today to see the total raise to 502.

Beginning Monday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) started posting a revised COVID-19 daily dashboard. This revised dashboard will continue to provide critical information for the public’s understanding of the current and cumulative impact of the pandemic in Massachusetts, reflecting the metrics that are most useful to track on a daily basis.

Many existing data points, including testing, deaths, and hospitalization rates, have been reorganized to report on current numbers, trends over the past six weeks, and trends going back to March.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 28th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 103,411
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 97,606
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 5,805

As of November 4th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 9,357,245 cases of COVID-19 with 231,988 reported deaths.
