Massachusetts sees high COVID-19 case count for third straight day due to reporting error, 14 more dead
Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations in Friday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 387 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. An increase from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate has reached 2% for the third straight day. The MDPH credits a technical reporting error by a hospital group that delayed results causing the high case numbers the past 3 days.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 109,787 with 14 more reported dead for a total of 8,389.
Massachusetts had seen 304 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.
19,151 tests were performed, almost 7,000 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,535,835. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,180,605.
Hospitalizations have decreased in 67 of the last 82 days and saw a decrease of 20 today to see the total drop to 347.

• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 70,449
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,032
According to the CDC, as of July 30th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 4,405,932 with 150,283 dead.
