Massachusetts sees decrease in COVID-19 cases, increase for 2nd straight day in hospitalizations

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 162 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. A decrease from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate dropped from 2.2% to 2.1%.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 111,533 with 32 more reported dead for a total of 8,470.

Massachusetts had seen 338 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

11,555 tests were performed, over 1,700 less than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,653,792. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,262,877.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 69 of the last 88 days, however, they saw an increase of 7 today to see the total rise to 403.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 5th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 75,771
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 72,919
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,852

According to the CDC, as of August 6th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 4,802,491 with 157,631 dead.
