Massachusetts sees another increase in COVID-19 active cases, hospitalizations, positive test rate
Massachusetts saw an increase in active cases, average positive test rate and hospitalizations in Monday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 1,464 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 2.37%, the highest since February 12th. Three weeks ago from Sunday, the 1.66% registered was the lowest it had been since October 22nd.
Massachusetts had seen 1,817 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 594,242 with 15 more reported dead (15 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 17,130 (16,790 confirmed, 340 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 18,645,737 after 41,771 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 27.3.
Estimated active cases saw another increase to 31,428.
Hospitalizations have increased in 102 of the last 186 days and 77 of the last 145 and saw an increase of 18, to raise the total to 675. Before the last 8 days, COVID-19 hospitalizations had been on the decrease as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Last Sunday’s total of 580 was the lowest since November 7th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the March 25th report, Fall River has a 27.0 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (22.0 last week). New Bedford saw an increase to 21.9 (was 18.7). Westport saw a decrease to 19.6 (was 20.5), Swansea is at 17.9 and was 14.3 last week. Somerset also saw an increase as they sit at 13.1 (was 12.0). Freetown stands at 24.5 a decrease from 28.4 which was tops in Bristol County. Dartmouth is currently at 20.2 after seeing 16.0 last week. Acushnet saw 21.2 (was 23.9).
32 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk) which is up from 20 last week. Barnstable, Bellingham, Blackstone, Brewster, Chicopee, Dennis, Fall River, Freetown, Hanson, Harwich, Haverhill, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lee, Lowell, Lynn, Mashpee, Methuen, Millis, Monson, New Bedford, North Attleboro, Palmer, Plainville, Plymouth, Revere, Sandwich, Southwick, Sutton, Templeton, West Bridgewater, and Yarmouth.
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to March 25th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 276,263
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 266,555
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 9,708
Massachusetts Officials have issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on March 25th.
