Boston, MA – Anne Brensley’s campaign today condemned antisemitic comments made on her Boston Herald Op-Ed. Following the latest incident, and against a backdrop of previous threats, Brensley says she has made the frustrating decision to have security on Election Day.
According to an announcement from her campaign, among the responses was a grotesque anti-Jewish caricature posted in the Facebook discussion accompanying her column. The image uses exaggerated physical features and familiar antisemitic stereotypes to demean Jewish people. She has also received a plethora of threatening and racist messages.
“Speaking out always invites those you are speaking out against to reveal themselves,” said Brensley. “Antisemitism has become more vile and more bold and as a member of the Jewish community, I won’t tolerate it or any other religious bigotry.”
Brensley states that she is no stranger to threats. In an October 22, 2025, report, Bearing Arms documented threatening messages she received while campaigning. Those messages included calls for Republicans to be killed and the statement, “A good republican is one that’s dead.” Recent threats included lining her up with other republicans and shooting them dead.
Brensley said that she has been one of a handful of candidates who has been campaigning without security. The latest antisemitic abuse, together with that history, has reinforced the need for additional security as Brensley completes her campaign for Secretary of State.
“I would prefer to continue meeting voters where they are without feeling security over my shoulder, but we are going to have a very charged Election Day so I may get assistance.”
The Brensley campaign called on leaders across the political spectrum to unequivocally condemn antisemitism and threats of political violence.
“Confronting antisemitism should never be a partisan question,” Brensley said. “When I heard Seth Moulton and Bill Galvin may have been threatened with compromised mail, I condemned the possible actions. My hope is they will do the same.”
