Massachusetts schools see 669 new COVID-19 cases, see where your community stands

COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools increased for a second straight week week along with decreases and increases in some area communities.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 476 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from March 11 to March 17. 193 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 669.

The last report, which was for March 4 to March 10, revealed that 523 tested positive. 377 of the positives were students and 146 were staff.

The report only includes positive cases of students and staff who have been in school for either in-person or hybrid learning. Remote learning cases are not counted.

Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from March 11 to March 17.

Acushnet: 1 student and 2 staff
Attleboro: 5 students and 2 staff
Dartmouth: No cases
Fairhaven: 4 students and 3 staff
Fall River: 3 student and 5 staff
New Bedford: 2 students and 6 staff
Plymouth: 2 students
Seekonk: 4 students and 1 staff
Somerset: No cases
Swansea: 2 students
Taunton: 4 students and 3 staff
Westport: 1 student and 1 staff

Fall River had the 4th most staff cases in the state. New Bedford ranked 3rd in staff cases.
