BOSTON – With every new headline about a mass shooting, terrorist attack, hate crime or natural disaster, many of us fear for our safety and that of our loved ones.

15,200 have died from gun violence this year. In the past few years, the COVID-19 pandemic has also become one of Americans’ biggest safety concerns with 204,000 Americans having died from COVID-19.

With these concerns, the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on 2022’s Safest States in America.

In order to determine the most secure states, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 53 key metrics. The data set ranges from the percentage of residents who are fully vaccinated to assaults per capita and the unemployment rate.

The Bay State ranked as the 6th safest state in the country.

Safety in Massachusetts (1=Safest; 25=Avg.):
4th – Percentage of Residents Who Are Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19
5th – Murders & Non-Negligent Manslaughters per Capita

The big crime wave is mostly in Republican states. Violent crime is way up south and west. Could be an excess of guns and anybody being able to get them? It helps that the Northeast is one of the best educated parts of the country. Well you wouldn’t know it from from the trolls that comment here but they are the exception that believe education and being informed isn’t important.
